Sara Pecchia, an intern in our Nashville office, was awarded the 2009 Nashville Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) scholarship at the Parthenon Awards banquet this week. Sara is an exceptional senior public relations student at Belmont University, where she is a frequent Dean’s List recipient. Sara has also been awarded the AT&T Outstanding Student in Public Relations scholarship and the Nashville Advertising Federation Scholarship.
In addition to her involvement with Belmont University’s PRSSA, Sara volunteers for Second Harvest Food Bank, the YWCA and the Salvation Army. We are proud to have Sara as a member of the Peritus team and offer her our sincerest congratulations on this much-deserved recognition.

In an effort to further brand Lexington as the Horse Capitol of the World, the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau has commissioned a visual representation of its status. The result is ‘Big Lex”, adapted from the race horse Lexington who was featured in an 1868 painting by Edward Troye. The project will feature a large-scale rendering of the painting to be installed in downtown Lexington and a massive three dimensional “Big Lex” sculpture that will be unveiled downtown prior to the World Equestrian Games in 2010. After the equestrian games have passed, the city will drape “Big Lex” with racing silks to promote important cultural events in the city.

Aside from the weather and lack of Cuban food the next big difference I’ve noticed between Miami and Louisville is the obsession with college basketball. At first I didn’t understand why. Back home it’s all about the Heat, and then it clicked. Kentucky doesn’t have a professional team! Then someone mentioned the Kernels. The only kernels I know are the ones that don’t pop in my bag! I say they bring a professional team back to Kentucky. Until then…Go Cardinals! I guess.
