A New Frontier?
The New York Times today is reporting on a television station in Las Vegas that is adding product placement to its newscast. Read the story here. The photo below shows McDonald’s iced coffee drinks on the anchor desk. The station’s news director said “he was not allowing the McDonald’s cups on the so-called straight news portion of the morning report, which is before 7 a.m., but on a lighter, news-and-lifestyle show that goes from 7 to 9 a.m.” Journalists will hate this and advertisers will love it.
