Please join us in congratulating Dr. James Ramsey, President of the University of Louisville, who has been named Business Leader of the Year by Business First of Louisville.
Dr. Ramsey received the award at the third annual Business First Business of the Year awards on Dec. 6. Winners were chosen based on the impact they’ve had on their organizations and their leadership roles in the community. Dr. Ramsey was honored for his tireless effort to make the University of Louisville a better place to work and to learn, and to make Louisville and the entire Commonwealth areas a better place to live. From beautifying the campus to recruiting top-flight researchers, faculty and students to spurring billions of dollars in economic development projects, the impact of Dr. Ramsey’s leadership can be seen throughout campus and the community.
Since Dr. Ramsey took the reins in 2003, the University of Louisville has seen increased enrollment, a rise in ACT scores for incoming freshman and higher retention and graduation rates. The university has been designated a Carnegie I Research University, increased federal research dollars five-fold and quadrupled sponsored funding for research projects. Earlier this year, Dr. Ramsey announced a $2.5 billion expansion of the Louisville Health & Life Sciences Center, which is expected to create 8,700 new high-paying jobs and bring $1.2 billion in private investment to Louisville over the next two decades. His efforts at the University of Louisville will benefit the school, the city and the lives of every Kentuckian.
