Current Position:
Katie joined Peritus in December 2007 as an Account Coordinator in the newly opened Nashville office.  She works closely with Lauren Reed to provide support for current public affairs clients and in the recruitment of future clients in Tennessee.

In addition to her responsibilities as Account Coordinator, Katie plays a key role in getting the Nashville office up and running.  Her previous internship experience has provided her with the organizational skills necessary to maintain the office and the public relations experience needed to serve our diverse client base.

Before Peritus:
Katie’s desire for hands-on public relations experience began during her junior year at Murray State University where she was an active member in the PRSSA.  Katie served as publicity director and student-run firm director for the organization and led the University’s first-ever Bateman Case Team in PRSSA’s national case study competition.

Although Katie had already completed an internship for course credit, she sought more experience.  She took an unpaid internship at the Humane Society of Calloway in Murray, Ky., and was given the opportunity to write feature articles for Murray Life Magazine, implement a county-wide spay/neuter support campaign, develop the quarterly newsletter and plan Bark in the Park, the Humane Society’s annual fundraising event.

Katie was a Public Relations major and minored in Spanish at Murray State University, where she studied abroad in Segovia, Spain, during the summer of 2007.  She is proficient in writing, reading and speaking Spanish, which has proven useful when she recently was asked to translate a United Way survey from English to Spanish and administer it to Spanish-speaking members of the community.

Additional Information:
Katie’s involvement with animals did not stop with the completion of her Humane Society internship.  The owner of a pug named Brody and long-time animal lover, Katie continues to volunteer her time with the Humane Society.  She also volunteers for the American Cancer Society and participates in the annual fundraising event, Relay for Life, when in her hometown of Muhlenberg County, Ky.
