Looking at 2020 in a Different Light
Here at Peritus, we are more thankful than ever for the opportunity to serve our mission and connect our communities for a brighter Alabama.
Join me and look back at 2020 in a different different light by watching this 60-second highlight video sharing ways Peritus shined light in darkness this past year.
Some of the year’s most memorable highlights are recapped here:
SHINE LIGHT
Peritus partnered with the Birmingham Ed Foundation to organize a virtual book club for local high school students with author Anthony Ray Hinton to discuss his memoir, The Sun Does Shine. We donated 100 books to participating students so they could enjoy an intimate conversation about impacting their communities.
PRIORITIZE WELLNESS
The pandemic helped us recommit to wellness by implementing a series of virtual wellness challenges and walk-and-talk meetings to keep our team members engaged and connected while working remotely. Our team also shared our company wellness perspective to communicators across the country by securing an opinion piece in a national industry publication.
FUEL INNOVATION
Peritus supported efforts to create a statewide conversation about how entrepreneurship and technology can better connect Alabamians. We look forward to continuing to elevate innovation in Alabama by building connections and fostering collaboration.
EDUCATE VOTERS
Our team developed creative and approachable digital resources to help Alabama voters understand the state legislative session priorities and 2020 general election issues to empower residents to use their voice in shaping federal and local policy.
CHAMPION MENTAL HEALTH
To support mental health awareness, our team partnered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Alabama to build a unique and compelling brochure and bring these essential wellness services to life through the combination of creative and messaging.
CONNECT STUDENTS
We created a statewide student outreach program, Connect One, focusing on how a single relationship can leave a lasting impact on a local student. During a time of remote working and internship cutbacks, we have been able to connect local students with PR professionals.
SHARE GIFTS
One of our pillar priorities last year was professional development, led by a series of dynamic Lunch & Learns from local and regional thought leaders who challenged us to impact our communities through our role as communicators.
GROW SMART
While 2020 brought unique challenges for every business, Peritus was able to strengthen our team’s collaborations and partnerships from the Gulf Coast up to Washington D.C.
To help support our clients' visionary communications goals, we are proud to announce that Washington D.C.-based Emma Boone has joined Peritus as an account manager to help expand our public affairs reach. In addition, University of Alabama at Birmingham graduate Bella Tylicki is our newest account coordinator, who will help us continue moving our state forward with her passion for community engagement.
ADVOCATE INFRASTRUCTURE
Our team advocated for a stronger, better connected Baldwin County through our campaign efforts for a local ballot initiative, advocating for increased infrastructure and public safety measures across the region.
COUNSEL SMALL BUSINESSES
We presented ways to communicate for better connection in the wake of COVID to businesses across the state during Engage Alabama, the Business Council of Alabama virtual annual conference.
Our PUBLISHED by Peritus takeaway is this:
Together, with the right perspective, we can continue shining light. On behalf of the Peritus team, we look forward to a bright year ahead.
