• Relationship builder – Skilled at building authentic relationships, particularly within the innovation and entrepreneurial communities, to create and sustain client and industry connections. 

• Resourceful and adaptive – Begins every project with research and insight gathering, bringing a deep knowledge of the innovation ecosystem to every conversation. 

• Innovation expertise – Enthusiastic about the startup world, with a track record in or around the innovation ecosystem, whether as an entrepreneur or as a supporter of entrepreneurial activities.  

ROLE OVERVIEW

Our innovation-focused specialist will play a pivotal role in helping Peritus support Alabama’s innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem. This role is focused on developing and executing communication strategies for clients in the startup and innovation ecosystem, elevating their stories and positioning them for growth. With an emphasis on writing, storytelling, content development, project management and media relations, this position is crucial for driving client impact, fostering entrepreneurial connections and contributing to the growth of Peritus’ innovation work. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience – Open to candidates ranging from 4-9 years in public relations or a related field, with a background in the innovation ecosystem, either as an entrepreneur or as a supporter of entrepreneurial growth. 

• Communication & Storytelling – Demonstrated experience in writing, content creation and media relations, particularly for audiences in the innovation and startup space. 

• Project Management – Skilled in managing complex projects, with proficiency in tools like Monday.com preferred. 

• Relationship Development – Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to connect authentically with clients, media and community members.
